Welcome to RIBnet. The horn requirement is met by a gas airhorn as seen in fitba stadia across the land. Keep it to hand (under a seat)

I too use the standard gas canister horn, well I say use it but more accurate to say I carry one. Easy to judge how much gas left by weight. In my case being a SIB bereft of cupboards it's in the "emergency" dry bag.

Its not a legal requirement to carry an air horn on a rib, I've never heard that, just had a boat coded for passengers & its not even a requirement for that a whistle on your lifejacket fulfills the colregs requirement

I have one of these. Surprisingly loud, doesn’t require any power or compressed gas, satisfies the COLREGS, never had to use it.
