Hello from new sib owner, London

Hi all
I'm new to boating and recently purchased my first sib for uk diving. Excel XHD535. I've been researching reading posts watching youtube for bits and bobs and have hundreds of questions but just a few for now??? Sorry if to you the answers are obvious but we all got to start somewhere.

1. 12v power.
Can I use the outboard (evinrude 20hp 2s man start) to keep a 12v battery charged for powering gps/depth unit if engine is off or worst case using aux motor?

2. Lowrance Hummingbird Garmin, which one?
I like the look of the lowrance 5 hd, but have no experience in this area so any pros n cons you know of I'd like to hear. I'll be mainly diving so fish finding is less of a priority but wrecks very welcome

3.Insurance companies?
Who to get a quote from and more important, who to avoid!

4. Have I posted this in the right place?
If not I apologize, wheres best?

Like I said just a few...

Thank you for reading and happy boating Stephen

Hi TopFrog!
Welcome!
1. 12v power, you'll be fine with a 7AH battery which you take home at night and charge. I've got a link to a nice build walkthrough if you'd like, on a different forum.

2. can't comment

3. I'm personally with Noble Marine, never had a problem, very well priced for my SIB, and fine print seems to be perfectly good. Never had to claim though...

Thanks to you both for taking the time to read, blootac I'd like to see the link for the battery, that would be useful to see how others do things. And I'll call them for a quote as with you john f. I'm currently away working with poor signal and limited wifi access but end of next week possibly. Thanks again
