Hello from Essex

Just a quick hello and thank you to all that contribute. Hoping to be a rib owner soon and have found the site and contributors invaluable to get me moving in the right direction. Cheers Tom

Welcome to RIBnet Tom . So what rib have you got your eyes on , or have you already taken the plunge ? Are you planning to cruise mostly locally or venture further afield ? As you mention , loads of good info on here ( have a play with the search function ) but don't be afraid to ask any specifics which don't show up ! Enjoy the banter...........Bern

Hi Bern, hoping to take the plunge soon and just popped a note on the wanted section to see if anyone can help.
Plan is to keep it locally on the blackwater for the usual weekend adventures but also keen to go further afield. Having been a keen sailor, spent some time doing the long haul trips further afield so it would be good to do it a bit quicker and potentially in company! thanks for the welcome. Tom

Tom , that's a fairly decent budget for a used rib . I know it's " that time of the year " and you'll want to get something sorted , but try as many candidates as you can then maybe just check for opinions on here before you go for it . Ribeyes attract a mixed reception on here as they did have some problems in the past , but they also have their fans so hopefully you will get a balanced response if you ask a specific question about them . Will you be keeping it at the waterside or towing on a regular basis ? That will also come in to the suitability question. Good luck in your search .

Hey fellow Essex boy. Welcome to the group. Don't forget to post some picture once you've made your purchase.

Thank you for the welcome gents. It looks like a great community!

Thanks also for the advice Bern. Will be keeping it waterside majority if not all of the time for easy access and not too much of a problem launching either. Unlikely towing too much.

Hello from me too Tom. From home in west Cambs our sibbing location of choice is launching at West Mersea then either down your way or round to Brightlingsea for lunch. We never seem to get the timing right to get all the way to Maldon though... usually getting to your end of Osea Island before heading back.
