Hello from a boat newbie

Hello all. Just a quick introduction from myself.

I've just bought a second hand Waveline inflatable with a Johnson 9.9hp which I plan to use in Port Grimaud / St Tropez bay where I've been camping for the last few years and going again this year. I bought the inflatable as it can fit in the back of my van along with the rest of my camping gear. It's only 2.7m but as it's just the missus and me it should be ample for my needs.

I was wondering where was the best place for launching it in the South West area, probably estuary's where I can get to know it. It's on wheels so was just hoping to roll up, inflate it and stick it in the water. From what I've seen so far there are a few slipways but I'm not sure this really needs a slipway.

Anyway, I'll be thankful for any advice you can give me.

cheers
Will

Hi Will and welcome from me. I don't know SW launch sites as prior to this summer's holiday we've always turned north from Cambridgeshire for our sibbing... but I'm sure someone will be along soon.

Are you thinking of coastal days out close as possible to Bristol?

David

Hi David, thanks for the welcome. Looking initially for fairly close to Bristol but quite happy drive to Devon if needs be. I might end up down Bristol harbour just to try it out beforehand.

All I know of that (Bristol) area is scary fast tides and monster tidal range so take care!

I've just been doing a bit of reading on that, might be wise just sticking to the harbour area for now.
