Chichester Harbour

Hi. I registered on Ribnet a couple of years ago when I moved to Bosham and was looking for a RIB; I now have one! It is an Avon Searider 5.4 with a Mariner 75hp 2-stroke outboard - both of indeterminate age. It has been well maintained but could do with some improvements, not least a better console and additional seating, as well as an A-frame.

I will be trailing it down from the Inner Hebrides in a few weeks' time, which should be an adventure in itself, then get used to the boat whilst looking for the additional bits. I'm sure I will be looking for parts, advice and help on the forum!

Nice. I do like the old seariders.

In chichester harbour - just be careful of 2 things - the harbour master and the speed limit - don't get caught. And be mindful that up towards bosham is very muddy & tidal - so make sure you are careful with tide times. Aside from that, love chichester harbour. I know a few guys that (discretely) have set round hayling island times in their ribs. HISC often have an interesting sailing regatta on that can be nice to watch, and I assume they have a nice cafe you can stop in still as a visiting yachtsman.

Oh - and a 3rd thing to watch out for. Chichester bar. Make sure you hug the west coast (ie stay in the marked channel) until you're out to the bar beacon.

What size propeller for a Mariner 2S 75hp?

I have an Avon Searider 5.4 with a 1998 Mercury 75hp 2 stroke outboard. The propeller needs replacing but I cannot find any numbers on it indicating the size. There must be an optimum propeller for this combination of boat/engine. Any suggestions?
