Hope I attached pictures correctly! I joined several weeks ago because I got interested in owning one for exploring around the gulf & beaches in Florida.
I found an old Avon with a 9.9 hp mercury that needed much care and this site has been a wealth of knowledge for fixing it up.
I built a trailer for long hauls and when at the beach it inflates and straps on top of the trailer with equipment in the box. We deflated it after the week and returned it all to the box for the return drive home.
Thanks to a lot of reading forums on here our first adventure was excellent! Our plan worked great. One day we explored 8 miles up the coast of an island then shot back all 8 miles in one trip (42 minutes). 2 full size adults, gear of all sorts. It just barely planes, but it did it. Bigger motor is in my plans for sure.
