Welcome to Ribnet. Many questions have been asked and answered over the years. The beauty of Ribnet is all that knowledge is here at your disposal. Using the search function on the forum will throw up a load of info.

Re. Launching, other than the coast, the only place that springs to mind is Beeston Marina in Nottingham. Eddie the mechanic there is a top bloke & worth getting to know.

A quick hello

There’s also Farndon Marina on the River Trent just south of Newark. Nice easy and quiet slip with a decent 7 mile stretch of river between locks. Same cost as Beeston at £15 but far nicer in my book. There is also a free slip a few hundred yards upstream opposite The Riverside pub in Farndon. Will need a Canal and Rivers Trust key for this as barrier locked.

Technically you also need a licence to use the river. We have a licence but have never been requested to show it although have seen the river police on more than one occasion.

All assuming you need a slip as you mentioned a small rib…so on a trailer? If a sib and daily set up then theoretically you can drop it in the water anywhere accessible.

For the Trent you’ll need a Canal and River Trust licence.

https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/enjoy...ence-your-boat

Only free if non powered craft. Not cheap but look at the short term licence section. Around £20 for a week or, the one we have, 30 day explorer at £127 for any 30 days in a year.
