Wheel clamps never hurt, not sure how much you can pick them up for but they do a fairly decent job of deterring people who would try and hook your trailer up to their vehicle and drive off. Also might be worth investigating wether your local police (other authorities) have any identification scheme (usually in the form of an sticker that is hard to get off) might make it easier for them to identify it and return it to you if it ever (God forbid) does get nicked.
