Balearics

Am thinking of hiring a RIB when out in the Balearics this summer.
Does anyone have any advice, tips or warnings please?

Where in particular? Plenty of places in both Mallorca and Ibiza to hire ribs or "tenders / dinghies" as they will more likely be referred to. My recommendation would be Ibiza. More scenic places to go (IMO) especially Formentera which is a short-ish ride away from Ibiza's main port, great spot to anchor up and go ashore for lunch etc. It does get super busy in the height of summer, with an awful lot of speedo and bikini clad people not paying a blinds bit of notice about anyone else whilst bombing along at 30 knots. I spent two weeks around Ibiza on a 23m motor yacht this time last year and five blasts from our horn became a regular occurrence! All you need is a PB2 and a credit card and you'll be able to hire something. You'll usually have to put down a couple of k deposit so make sure you double check any damage before you leave the port.

That's brill thanks Tim. We're book to Mallorca - Soller. Got my PB2 and doing an Intermediate course as well before then. Good trip re checking the damage.
No difference in buoyage/navigation or rules of the sea there I assume?

You'll certainly find some options in Palma. I prefer the South side of Mallora to the North.

All of Europe is IALA A so bouyage all the same. I'd recommend getting a copy of this book:

https://www.marinesuperstore.com/mar...in-9th-edition

Lots of useful info both practical and advisory with regards good places to anchor / swim / eat etc.
