Zodiac futura fast roller.

Morning all. I am weighing up whether to sell my beloved 4.2m futura or have it repaired. She currently has glue failure to the port side transom and is a job beyond my skill set, I would imagine it’s full removal of the transom and re-glue. This could be a good project for someone as apart from the obvious repairs needed she is a very capable craft even out in open water. I’ve had a Quote of £250-300 to fix but am in 2 minds whether to move it on to a new home and buy something newer.

Anyone out there looking for such a boat/project and if so what’s she worth?? 4.2m futura fastroller, airdeck, bow bag, foot pump, no trailer, one small patch to underside, holds air perfectly, very solid boat and lots of fun out on the water. Click image for larger version

That's a shame but it comes to them all eventually.

In truth that does need a total transom off re-glue and quite possible the whole floor re-glued too.

I'm a little unsure as to having a pro re-glue for anything other than a shortish term job. I've heard of more than one person spend the £250+ for the transom and adding £200 if the floor is done only to have it start pulling apart again in a couple of years.

If it were mine I'd pass it on as a bargain to someone to cheaply DIY to use it for a couple of years and then its time has probably come to an end.

Thanks for the info chaps!!! I’ve had the boat 3 years and somewhat attached to it now, so 250-300 for a few more years worth of solid boating action seems the way forward. The repairer is zodiac approved so fingers crossed he’ll work his magic and bring the boat back to its glory days. I Got nothing lose except spending £1000-1800 for another decent futura and they are quite rare on the market even during season.

I’ll keep you posted with how it all goes.

Yep as long as you are realistic and not expecting it to go another 20yrs then that outlay for another couple of seasons min is reasonable given how low sibbing costs are otherwise.
