A yamaha 2 hp will get you from a-b slowly but use very little fuel and is very light.
Strangely enough,a 2.5 mariner feels almost twice as powerful,planing potential on a 3m rib one up if you sit forward,I used a length of washing machine pipe to steer.Sounds a bit sad but does reduce your trip time on the 5th trip to a boat ferrying kit,dog,family,food for just a weekend trip.

Seaguls make fantastic anchors and as a bonus you can strap it to the back of the boat again sfterwards and the damn thing will still work (probably...).

Borrowed a mates 2hp Evinrude and added it to my one on the back of a 9' hard dinghy.

Sounded horrendous but felt like a pilot boat - semi-displacement.

Was also rigged for sailing and so had to plug the centreboard casing as well.

Went better with a Yamaha 4hp steered with a length of 1.5" waste pipe.
