Transducer on F-RIB

Hi, sorry if this has been asked before. I am soon attaching a Lowrance Hook2 bullet transducer onto my 360. I have bought a Railblaza arm & mount for it. Question : can someone show me a pic of where exactly it should be in relation to the prop & hull? TIA, Eddie

You should have an instalation diagram but from memory it's more than 4 inches to starboard of the keel in line with the water line

Hi again. I have eventually seen Gurnard's series of pics from his in hull transducer install from a couple of years back. Pretty impressive work. One thing that did confuse me was the angle the transducer is put in the box. So if the box is fixed next to the drain plug, what sort of angle should it be fitted? PS, I have yet to inflate the F-RIB, as the weather has been too crap since I took delivery of it. I may be over thinking the whole thing!! Thanks

Eddie your bullet transducer is designed to be transom mounted just follow the instructions. as far as quality is concerned you will get good return signals at around 3-6 mph and depth readings on the plane but not good return signals of bottom on the screen depending on the hull and the amount of disturbance.
a shoot through hull transducer has an angle on it to so when it's glued inside the hull its vertical at rest of course in the chop the boat rocks so the signal will be at an angle at times but not noticeable since you have no reference to the bottom angles & the sonar pulses are so quick if that makes sense. with the arm you have you should have a bit of adjustment so it might be a fine tune but that will have to be done on the water for best results.

Thanks Jeff. I do have a tendency to over think projects before starting them. Once I do start, they are never as complicated as my little brain envisaged!! Hopefully the weather will pick up so that I can actually see the transom etc.

have a look at my excel 435 thread ive just fitted out my transducer it's a skimmer one bit like the bullet but flatter supposed to be a better through the water.
the thing with sounders is to read them in conjunction with the chart i have split screen on my chartplotter so you know where you are say over a drop off on the chart and watch the sounder pick it up as you travel over it.
always think when the sounder picks up the bottom you are already over it so it's too late if very shallow so the eye balls are always a good backup too.
one thing to mention i'm not very familiar with the hull on the f-rib but you will be limited to where you can fit the transducer due to the hull shape as it steps up to the tube in steps which it does on some boats not sure on yours just make sure its in line with the water not the hull and not across a step where the water is disturbed.
if not sure take a photo of where you think its going and post we will advise measure twice drill once

Would you say the step with the black strap under it or the one to the left of it?

yep thats where i would install it smack in the middle you're away from the prop there, if you do get a bit of turbulence when its set at just below the hull line try just lowering it a tad for better results but at slow speeds you should be ok

Thanks again for your help Jeff.
