Trailer Adaption

I have spent the last day or two adapting my already multi purpose trailer to be able to transport and store our SIB. It was a fairly simple and quite enjoyable job. We had sold our speedboat and the large trailer it sat on and didn't want to have the clutter of another trailer lying about so this seemed like a good idea.

These are the mods I made to take the SIB (there are still some bolts to cut down and the extension bar needs painting but you get the picture)

This is the 2 x motorbike mode

And this is the Tip, DIY, camping mode

The bunks, transom support and drawbar extension are easily removed to return it to a utility/bike trailer.

This gives us loads of options ref transporting the SIB. We can roll it up and put it in the trailer with the motor, freeing up space in the car. We can put the motor in the trailer and boat on top or we can put the boat and motor on the trailer and use the space in the original trailer for luggage etc. Finally we don't need to use the trailer at all depending on who is going on the day out. It will never go in the water just being used for transport and storage. It also means that if we go away for a few days the boat can be left inflated to save time.

Now I just need to get on the water!

Thanks OM, It was far more simple than expected, I had to make sure the fins on the tubes had clearance but other than that, straightforward.

Now that is a lovely idea well done.

I have 12 Trailers of various types and not a single one does more than one Job. You put me to shame such a simple idea with so many uses

I assume you started with the Motor cycle Trailer..... If I am not careful I will be buying trailer No 13

Hi Smallribber.
I have lots of space but don't like clutter, you really must have 'Land' to store 12 trailers!!

We built the trailer 2 years ago from scratch to be a Motorbike/utility trailer using some access ramps we had lying about, worked perfectly so last weekend I thought, 3 is a good number, lets give it another job!!

Interesting about the clutter thing. I have to be honest and simply dont understand that word. I actually hate tidy, clear tables and worktops and clean everything.

I love the boatyard where I keep one of my boats because if you need a pice of rope, brick, length of wood or rag etc you just turn around and in seconds you have what you were looking for.

Good we are all different

Nature is not tidy I wonder why some humans think they need to be

I'm somewhere in the middle SR, I can't stand sterile and don't like chaos. A friend of mine had a terrace house where he lived amongst the various car parts he had in the living rooms. Often you couldn't find a single 3 square inches to put your tea mug down!

Indeed but I have also been in peoples houses that are so tidy that I would not dare put a tea mug down.

One of my friends had a very interesting sign over their door. It read

'A Tidy House is a wasted life' ....... Makes you think that
