sIB Trailer conversion for honwave 38

hi, Looking for advice please, i have a bombard dingy trailer that I want to convert so my honwave will sit on it, I think I am happy to let it sit on the rollers on the base but I was thinking of taking the side rollers off and replacing it with a plank of wood covered on carpet on each side to support the tubes, will this work ? ( I don't intend to travel with the outboard on )

Hi Topshelf,

No reason why it shouldn't work. Make sure the bunks are long enough to allow the transom to be supported by them.

I wouldn't use carpet, the SIB tends to stick instead of slide.

Following thread might help.

Thanks Steve, the link was helpful its similar to what I want to do, I will may be try a more nylon based carpet see if that's better. Im taking the boat up to the lakes this weekend so will try and see if I can get some ideas from trailers in the marinas.
cheers.

No problem Topshelf.

I tried both wool & nylon carpet and neither allowed the SIB to slide on or off easily. The other thing with carpet is that it can hold and hide small bits of stone, road chippings etc which can easily slice through the tubes as your winching the SIB on the trailer.

Have a good weekend in the Lakes.
