RNLI D Class Engine?

Hi All,

New to the forum as I have just purchased an ex RNLI D Class SIB, Boat is in VGC considering its age but I am after some advice regarding the engine. I know they were originally fitted with 40HP mariner outboards and the newer variant D Class is fitted with a 50HP mariner but I have heard stories and seen first hand people mount the 50hp mariner 2 strokes to the older variant D Classes due to weight being down. Can someone just clarify or advise the best engine to fit and that sort of performance I should expect?

Thanks in advance for any help!

If you want a actual ex RNLI 50 mariner check out bill higham marine in north wales, I almost bought one for my
Zapcat.

Is this the one from Cornwall with the 4 stroke on it?

I’d quite like a d class myself, make a good little boat!

You should come out with money in your pocket exchanging for the 2 stroke, he does part ex too.
