Placement of Fire Extinguisher on small SIB

With a Petrol Motor we are required to carry a .9Kg Fire Extinguisher on Board. Other than keeping it in a Bucket to me the only place is on the rear adjacent to the motor.

Because I fold the SIB up and put it into a carry bag, would like the Fire Extinguisher to be easily removed say with a clamp.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Peter

Yes. Get a decent sized waterproof case - like Pelicase, and use it for the extinguisher (which is fine) and all your other important kit - tools, First Aid, Spares, Flares, etc. http://www.rib.net/forum/f50/what-ki...sib-42712.html

I really wouldn't clip to the transom. The unit will corrode quickly and you know, if it's a powerhead fuel fire, you REALLY won't feel like bending over it to unclip the extinguisher

Kit: Anchor/4m Chain an 30m Nylon rope/Flares/small 12v pump/bucket with rope ( bailer?)/Oars screwed down/( previously electric motor and 12v x 60 Amp Lithium battery) will try out a 4HP Merc from my 1/2 cabin boat and a 10Lt fuel tank (would prefer a 5Lt tank) and Mobile Phone, and of course Fishing gear/first Aid and if not in a river/lake a hand held GPS..Only used in rivers/lakes so far.

And maybe in the future and electronic device to keep Great white sharks away if in the Gulf/open sea, a 6m great white rubbed up against a 1/2 cabin boat yesterday according to the local paper.

Re the extinguisher position, looked at purely to get by Ramp/Sea inspections. I do not smoke and to me very very very small chance of an on board fire.

Put it in a dry bag and clip it to a secure point away from the engine
