Old Avon water leaking in

I have and old Avon, grey hypalon with wooden transom and hefty wooden floor about 9ft long.Water leaks in at the bottom of the transom where there is a few cracks in the hypalon at the outer edge of the transom.I have some hypalon patches and glue kit by polymarine left over from an air leak repair.Any advice how I might stop the water ingress?I tried a patch but doesn't seal on a sharp edge.

There is a black tape on inside at bottom of transom which is split along its total length. There is wear to the hypalon on the outer edge of the transom and water is leaking in under the reinforcing patches on the sides. On reflection I think the main problem is the split tape on the inside.

If you have Avon water leaking in and are unhappy, is Severn water any better. Might mean a trip mind.
