Nylon chopping board as transom pad?

I'm doing some basic renovation work on a Flatacraft F3 folding rib at the moment-the one with the removable transom same as in the pic.
The outer pad is missing, so all that's there is hypalon and the inner transom

I'm thinking I have a big commercial nylon chopping board kicking about, has anyone ever used one as an outer (or inner) transom protector? I'm wondering if it's too slippery.

I'm using HDPE sheet for my auxiliary the screws bite in nicely and can't see it slipping on hypalon nylons a bit harder though. Ali transom pads arnt too expensive. Thinking about it stevie bill used nylon on his plastic boat no probs far as I'm aware

Yes I've used them for this purpose and many other boaty applications over the years. They are not a problem with being slippy and in many ways a bit like hardwood for the amount they grip... way better in this respect than the hard plastic pads on Chinese sourced SIBs.

Cheers, that's the result I wanted

It'll be bolted through the hypalon anyway, there's already holes to do it. Was more worried the outboard might slip.

If you are worried about the outboard slipping then drill a couple of 2-3mm deep holes just slightly bigger than your outboard clamp faces so they sit in the recess, use something like a forstner drill bit.

Good idea, thanks.

Brown nylon transom pad chopping board now purchased. Apparently it's for vegetables. I'm trying not to snigger.
