New sib

Hi

New to the forum just looking for a bit of advice

Looking to buy a sib after selling a jet ski last year.

Iv found an immaculate 2006 tohatsu 18hp 2stroke after reading great reviews on here, question is I'd like an bombard aerotec 380 but I can only find one second hand at nearly £900 and at 15 years old a bit suspicious, also looking at an ex demo honwave t32 air dec for less money and obviously newer.
Any feed back for a newbie great fully appreciated

That Tohatsu engine is a great start but if such things concern you it is over the makers stated power for the T32. The T38 takes up to 25hp so that would be fine for sure.

If a T32 did suit you should get a brand new one under £900.

I've just bought a 17yr old Aerotec which I'm reporting on in the Aerotec patching thread.... it was much much cheaper than £900!

For £900 I think you should get one less than 10yrs old.

As long as you are OK with the V-shape floor inside an Aerotec and 18hp would make a great combo.

I appreciate the 18hp is over power by 3 but well within max engine weight on a t32
I would have a honwave t38 but been told they get a bit floppy in anything more than totally flat waters

That's far too much for one that age but have patience, they are out there, look in lots of places!

A 380 and Twatsu 18 will be an awesome combo.

While the air floors on the Honwaves are good, they do have a tendancy to devlop a slight concave shape when under full power and fully loaded. This can be minimised by keeping the floor at exactly the correct pressure.

I would have no hesitation putting an 18hp 2 stroke on a T32, they are solid and well built and big enough to cope quite easily. Just be aware that its unlikely you will be able to use full power if heavily loaded.

It sounds like im putting the Honwaves down, im not. They are excellent boats and probably the best V air floors available apart from the Aerotec. I would happily buy another (Ive had 3), but the Aerotec is miles ahead in terms of performance and packability.
