new member, old Zodiac.

Hello all, I've had boats for years and do still have a Seajeep. For ages l've fancied having a sib to keep in the roofbox of my camper. So, by way of an experiment without too much cost I bought an old 1970 3.1m sib. After three trips on our local river I've discovered three things, I like the inflatable, a 3.1 hypalon is as heavy as I want to maul about and that it could do with a bit more umph than 4hp. Now, a question for them that knows. The floor of the boat came as four pieces of rectangular plywood with two side braces. Would it originaly have had a fifth shaped piece in the bow with a hole through to inflate the keel tube? Thanks for reading, regards, McNish.

Sounds like you have a Zodiac ZED31, but a picture would confirm it.Yes, it should have another triangular section in the bow, they are easy to make out of 12mm ply.

They had a maximum rating of 10hp, but we had loads of fun with 8hp as kids.

cheers, for that, got plenty of ply around, l'll inflate it, make a template and away l go. The model number you've quoted sounds right as the old tub is 3.1 metres of Zodiacs finest hypalon.

Not convinced its hypalon unless its early 70's, late 70's boats and newer were all PVC.

yup, as I mentioned in the post it's a 1970 built boat. Didn't want to make a big investment in what is after all an experiment, all the other gear involved is kit that l already have.
