Just got back from SIBs and spent some time on the excel stand. Much bigger and way better laid out. Had a nice chat with the new owners also.

It is shown in the thread I have started about SIBs here

I wonder what the Scout weighs with the air deck in there? I assume the weight quoted is with the aluminium floor.
Would be interesting if it came with both decks… but maybe not looking at the price.
They are interchangeable according to the site.

The Explorer looked great until I saw those tabs…!! Quite cool looking though. 43kg for the 330 and it takes a 20hp… nice

Scout and adventure

The scout is the same boat as boat worlds carbon pro made in the same factory, just decorated different..
The lack of ropes and those handles are a big turn off, even the decorative pattern isn't unique to excel its looks like they have just copied a boat out of the catalogue from 2013 if I can I will share some pictures later

The adventurer is a blend of boatworlds vfloor and carbon pro for that quick to go setup with huge performance objectives ( yet to be seen if the rated hp is correct )
Personally I think the new range of sibs are due to the negative publicity they been receiving with the current range Volante and vanguard poor performance on the water lately
Some calling them dangerous slow flat ect but only got to look at the profile to now they are not a fast boats and have limitations nevertheless they still a great platform for fishing..

Interesting thoughts. I hadn't compared the scout to the carbon pro until you mentioned it and they certainly do look exactly the same, with the same spec (apart from the weight)
I hadn't realised Excel are receiving negative publicity, not personally read any.
I agree the volante isnt the fastest of SIBS, however I still achieve around 16/17 knots, that combined with it's size and stability is a good combination for me.

Yea there's a few saying 365 is dangerous after 11-13knots but I think due to the shortness width and that little extra weight than the 360 Volante it hampers it's performance a little .. the 395 with 20hp got me 18knots 2up with loads of gear on board and handles pretty dam good https://youtu.be/v9rFZuvGz_k

If your search on various Facebook groups you will come across some of peoples issues eg bow digging in , veering off etc .. it was a huge talking point back in the spring ..
I personally never had an Issue with the 330 360 395

In February at boat life boat show there was no new plans for any new ranges at excel only ribs but the hype around the carbon pro & rumours where it's built with the negatives with current range forced there hands the information I have had that's what I'm lead to believe

I'm still not sold on the direction most are going with these handles and not ropes on a few boats not just the excel but boat world, honwave Hydrus

Interesting you should mention about the bow digging in. I noticed a big improvement in speed and handling of my SD360 whilst on holiday recently just by moving the fuel tanks (16 liters) and a dry bag full of stuff to the stern. I wasn't having problems, it was just to make more space in the bow for my wife to sit on the deck.
We're two up + dog and usual fuel/kit, probably 220kg. As for the veering off that happens to me all the time it just depends upon which side of the SIB the dog wants to sit on, Diane has to move either left or right on her bench to compensate for it. I don't think it's a problem with the SIB it's more likely to be unbalanced load.
Completely agree with handles V ropes, give me a rope any day.

The video gives you an idea of our set up and performance.

Whilst not a particular fan of Excel per se, just don’t appeal, I seriously doubt there’s anything dangerous about the 365. Yes there is hardly any shear rise in the design, but issues with bow digging in and veering off (bow steering) are classic symptoms of under inflation, poor trim and loading etc.

Excel have been selling these boats for many years so doubt any serious problems would have only manifested this year.

Sadly more the case of new user error vocalising on social media, picked up by similar egits, and the whole thing escalating out of all proportion.

Totally agree with you a lack of experience or over expectations, I've always said if you want a fast sib buy a t38 or similar but quality and space then it's always as been excel .. and your right 1000s sold and only now a issue .. they are a flat profile boat not much of a rocker bow which limits it ride qualities but don't make it a bad boat ..

Nowt wrong with excel IME of two 5 and 4.35 m boats 150 miles on my recent trip no issues. Trouble is plenty of info on the forum for those who can be ar$ed to look to help solve issues.

Totally agree. We've experienced bow too far in and veering on three boats, one hard and two SIBs. In each case there was a specific cause and once dealt with the problem went away.
