Short but stunning video, when the sun shines in Scotland it really delivers.

Cheers, just glad the drone survived its first outing on the boat!

Started putting the 50hp back together, got a full powerhead gasket set from Yamaha along with a new bottom crank bearing and new crank oil seals.
Also put the new Boyesen reeds in. The wee screws that hold them on were too long even with the standard reeds so I used the dremel to make them flush. Reed blocks on the 40/50 are a bit of a choke point so more flow here is better. Can see before and after

Very interesting, I have a 40hp yamaha, would the
reed change and pin mod make much difference as a stand alone mod?

The change of reeds should, they flow better than the standard steel reeds so give crisper acceleration. Also a nice safety feature as if they break they won't damage pistons etc. as the steel ones would.
Grinding the bolts down I doubt you'd notice on it's own, but do enough wee tweaks like that and you'll gain power. All about making air flow smoothly and efficiently through the engine

Boyesen and Chris Carson Marine (CCM) are the two big brands, both much of a muchness. I usually go for the most standard rpm range ones they offer. Usually offer a sport, drag and race reed getting thicker as you go up. These are the ones I ordered - https://boyesen.com/p589866-power-reeds?uid=12178

Back to thundercat action, was out in early April thanks to the fantastic weather.

Down to the Easdale Rib Rendezvous start of May, got out most days although we opted not to head for Tobermory on Saturday given the fresh conditions.

I sent the Yamaha 50hp CDI away to be tested and they said it was working fine. So now suspect the pickup coils beneath the flywheel. Have bought a full used set, just need to get round to testing them with the heat gun

Heat them up and test for resistance changes?

Finally got the 50hp running properly, after buying another CDI and stator. I changed the bits on the stator as the replacement parts were in better condition. Then a new timing light to get the timing set, none of the marks on the CDI match up. So that was worth buying, never would have got that right otherwise!

I've also written a book, probably quite boring and perhaps a bit technical - hows that for a write up?

Well done on the book and the engine, mines in pieces, every bolt I touch seems to break the head off. CCM reeds are on their way.
