Marina 25hp 2 stroke 2001 - what does it weigh?

Hey guys,

sorry for another pop quizz question and I do google them first lol but does anyone have a rough idea of what this thing weighs?

Its on a zodiac futura airdeck so I'm wondering if i can manhandle the whole package, as I know the zodiac's are not the lightest out there.

Thanks

Is it a 2 stroke yeah, I suppose it must be at that weight.

Are you okay loading it on your boat? I hear the 50KG mark is about the max for a portable outboard

yes its 2 stroke and yes its probably the max you want to handle on your own its more a combo of the awkard shape and weight
i tend to keep everthything close to the boot when setting up/ stripping down

Three things seem to hold true about SIBs

1. Your dream engine will be too heavy to carry with ease

2. You will need a Bravo pump

3. If you don't deal with 1 and 2, you will buy a trailer...

willk's Paradox states that by trying to get the most performance from a SIB, you will ultimately replace it with a RIB.

This is why there are RIBs...

Bwahahaaa that is brilliant lol :-)

No where to keep a trailer so 'must' deal with one and two lol!

There's a lot of truth in the above posts - I would not want to carry more than 30kg of outboard to be honest - 50kg is a bloomin' great lump to carry over any sort of rough ground, pebbly beach etc.

And a 25hp engine is really going on a 4m boat I'm guessing - again a big lump. All that negates the whole lightweight, carry over a beach, launch anywhere beauty of SIBs. IMHO the upper limit for SIB sensible boating is a 3.5m and a 15hp 2 stroke.

If the whole rig gets bigger you're into trailer/slipway territory and better off with a 4m Searider and 50hp RIB combo.

My requirements are not so romantic: I keep my boat at a 1st floor folded down my bed when off season. I do save a lot of money with that.
But I can handle a 4 meters boat and 50 kg engine if just twice a year.

If my plans included travelling without a trailer, or if I had the chance to launch my boat more often, I would go for high pressure floors and 15-10hp engine.

I also must say that the bigger the boat, the less often you use it. Some people buy a dream as big as they love it, but then it becomes a nightmare. Same with cars and houses and sex!

Keep changing my mind at every turn, its driving me crazy! However it looks like I've just blown my money on a spearfishing trip to Ascension Island with Titus and Colin which leaves in 3 weeks!!! If I servive then I'm holding out for a bombard Aerotec... my minds made up... Until I see the next lush boat to appear on ebay hahaa. Ascension Island though!! Get in!!
