Launching Q for the experienced

How would you experienced sibbers tackle this beach? Solid or pneumatic launch wheels or trolley? Or would you not bother?

I launch from beaches exclusively.

Carry it by hand.

No wheels necessary

Really don't think you can compare your smooth sandy beach overlooking Toronto, with the rocky, boulder stroon "beach" Tommy is talking about.

Where abouts is it Tommy, is there no easier places to launch nearby?

Are you still using your 330 Pro and your 5hp 2s?

By the looks of the stone size, 9" pneumatic tyres would bumble over that easily. The risk is the twisting and shock strains going into the metalwork. The typical launch wheel set up has weak stub axles and very little metal in the bracketry but big leverage potential.

From the photo it looks like the sort of terrain where it's 50:50 as to whether you bend something as you pull the boat up or down.

If it's a light set up and you have higher quality transom fittings for the wheels then I think you'd be fine.

If it were my boat, a 390, I think I'd be very wary. Immediately I'd want to brace between the drop arms. I'd want a rigid bar fixing them to each other between the wheels. And if there is two of you, I'd want the other person trying to lift weight from above the wheels which isn't exactly going to be easy for them.

In my somewhat limited experience of SIB ownership & beach launching, I’ve discovered one inalienable fact. However hard or difficult it is dragging the boat down to the sea, it’s infinitely harder dragging it back UP the beach on the recovery.
So my risk assessment for launching & recovery now focuses on the recovery. If I can get it out, I can definitely get it in. Oooer matron!

The other thing to consider is the tide state. From some of the pic's, there appears to be a bit of a drop off close to the high water mark. I can't help on getting it across the stones but I nearly got caught out once due to the beach and sea state being an entirely different proposition at high tide than it was at low tide.

As a kid I always had a group of 1970's London Fire Brigade Sub Aqua Club Divers to help me carry the inflatable up the beach:

Different times. Reminds me that I need to dig out my old albums and digitize some of them.

It's at Bunree, Onich. Loch Linnhe. Decided to just wet a line from the shore. Plenty of sea trout
I've found a spot 5mins away on Leven for the sib. Free parking and virtually launch from the car.
Yeah I've still got the BW 330 pro and yam 5. But for local sibbing I've got a 9.8 4t parsun. Yet to try it out but planning on Monday on Windermere

I was going to suggest the slip at Ballachulish Marina, but it looks like you've found it.

It looks like the shoreline has changed a lot since I was last there, admittedly more years than I care to remember. Is the "beach" as rough at the Fort William end? That where I launched canoes and a small sailing dinghy from.
