I only know of rivers in the south east.

The Medway river, you can launch from bow bridge mariner for a small launching and vehicle parking fee.

River Rother. Give the bodium boat station a call you can also launch and park there for small fee.

Both in the south east and found on google.

There have been several threads on this in the past. The quick answer is there aren’t really any. If you search then depending on YOUR perception of down south you might find a waterski pond who will let you use it for very high cost and big restrictions!

Are you near Watford Jamie? Any part of the Thames that you can get to??

Having said that there is a limit to the amount you'll gain in experience on a river.

I’m not far from Watford at all, “experience” was actually a poor choice of words. It’s more for a shakedown really, I bought my set up second hand and even though I’ve seen it running I haven’t been on the water yet. I would have quite liked to had a potter round a shallow lake just to get used to things but I don’t think that’s going to be possible. There is a nice launch spot onto the Thames not too far from me so it looks like I’ll be there next week.

Ahh understood. We are lucky in being 15mins from a nice riverside park with slip and we only ever use it... as you mention... to test a used OB or new to us SIB etc to practice setting up. I've spent decades on this river in different boats but not that keen in SIBs due to the sharp underwater hazards which in my experience threaten a SIB far more than at sea.
