Agree so long as cable locks are locking engine / tank to boat
Do not agree if you intend to use cable lock to moor boat to a public pontoon.
To put into context - I've been around boats for 40+ years including keeping dinghies on beaches / parks / pontoons with no real security at all. Never had anything nicked - apart from a pair of oars I left out someway from the boat and forgot to retrieve & put under the cover.
