Honda Honwave Material and towing and BEST PRICE

Hi Guys

Looking to buy a Honwave T38 ie, thats the one with the inflatable V floor. Just been to my local dealer and he told me that the material was hypalon. Can any one confirm this as it looks like PVC.

Also can you tow a ringo and kneeboard with this with the 20 hp engine as the dealer said not to.

Any one got one of these, need info if they are any good.

Any dealers what to give me a good deal?

Regards

Steven

I have one and im pretty sure they're PVC, but dont quote me on it and a lot of people say dont tow with the outboard on, due to the strain it puts on the transom, but it should be fine for short distances, wouldnt do it on long trips though.
A 20hp would be plenty to tow with i should think, although it may depend on how manys in the boat.

Thaks for the replies,

Shows how good these so called Honda authorised dealers are if they don't even know what material they are!

Are bombard good sibs?

What make of engine are good and a decent price, what size should i go for

Steven

Steve, saw you started another topic (Prowave vs Honwave) but I'll post here to keep it in one place - some thoughts here as we all go through this 'which boat' process:

edit - just realised that was another topic you started too!

I have a YAM 380 with a 15hp 4s on the tail - with me (14 st) and a couple of kids aboard, we can easily tow a ringo or knee board - we tried a very light wakeboard with a good little fella atop it however, we couldn't get him out of the hole.

Best price new down here (Plymouth) is Tony Hole Marine who was doing them at £895 boat only (with it's kit), he had good prices on packages too. Worth checking out. They are online!

Definitely PVC! Nice boat (used to have one) and it will tow a ringo or kneeboard

I have just bought a brand new T38IE and hate it! A Yamaha 20hp on the back and inflated to the correct pressure by the dealer on air floor and tubes and it acts like a wild pig once it plains, the air deck goes like jelly and wobbles here there and everywhere then the thing becomes so unpleasant none of the family want to go on it.

Had a 320 Suzumar with ali floor which was so stable it was like a RIB, I inflated the air foor as far as I could but no better, any ideas as the dealer doese't seem to give a hoot?

From what I've read they all do it except the Bombard 380.
The only thing you may want to consider is that the pressure will drop once on the water so may be worth toping up once in the water.

Other than that, should of stuck with the Ali floor.

It can be nearly erradicated with pressure and weight distribution but as above in SIB land the only air deck to feel like a RIB is the Bombard. I had a Yam 380 and they do feel like a *proper* boat in comparison to air floor SIBs.

I had exactly the same thing with my Honwave, I thought the boat was coming apart and on plane it was like you were on ice not water.

I headed straight back in to shore and pumped up the keel until the crappy pump couldnt put any more air in. Problem solved. A great handling little boat.
