help needed please. Avon sport info

Hi all,
after some info if anyone can help. I have seen and avon sport, about 3mts with a 3.3hp 2 stroke outboard for sale and just wondered what peoples opinions were about the package?. I know it won't be the fastest boat on the water but at least it will get me back on the water. Had boats on and off for about 20 years, only 1 inflatable though, the rest were sports or ski boats.
Also can anyone post a picture of the avon sport or something similar if poss, not sure what it looks like but I hope it has got a proper transom at the back, and not one of the converted roof rack outboard mounts! Does anyone know what might be the max outboard it would take if I wanted to upgrade the outboard at a later date?.
Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark

THINK most avon sportboats take upto a 40 but a 10 / 15 / 20 will push it along fine
A 3 or 4 will push it along in the rivers and esturays but beware of strong winds / tides cos it will side slip a lot

As oppose to the front?

I believe it has a proper transom, depending on what you want it for a bigger engine would be better.
I had a 25hp on a 14ft Zodiac inflatable and it did 17kts.

thanks guys for the fast reponse,
the boat and outboard are for sale for £395, not sure of the condition. I have asked for the seller to send me some pics.
I guess it would be ok for inland waters until a bigger outboard could be puchased?.
Any idea where there might be some pics of that boat or one similar?.
cheers again.
Mark

Had a quick look on google and it just brings up tyres.

The S400 I had had "Avon Sportboat" on the side so it may be one of these.
Mine had the solid transom, and wooden deck with inflatable keel. Sold it for £360 a few years ago now.

As Chewy says, most likely an Avon Sportboat. I've attached a photo of my S250 (3.2 metre length)

They come up regularly on Ebay as well as Boats and Outboard etc, so don't be too downhearted at missing this one. for example:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Avon-S250-10ft...d=p3286.c0.m14

They generally last very well, but there are some dogs out there.

The maximum outboard varies between models, irrespective of length. For example the S100 and S250 are both 3.2 metres long, but one has a 15HP maximum and the other a 25HP maximum. For what will now be a pretty old boat, I would keep the engine size down.

Cheers

Chris
