Floor padding

I'm looking to get some padding for the floor of my thundercat, thinking around 40-50mm thick. Gets used in the surf and rough weather so need a lot of protection, just wondering what folk use on their boats? There's some stuff online which I've found but it's mostly very expensive and specialsed

I've been doing that for a couple years but I think with a 70hp it can only be worse!

You can find lots of industrial closed cell foam sheets in varying thicknesses and densities

Closed Cell Foam Sheets (Select Multiple Thickness Options) | eBay

but the surface is quite delicate still - you need something like the Y Class mats that the RNLI use.

I picked up a Y Class mat cheap on eBay some time ago - sadly still seeking the Y Class to go with it!

The soft play mat idea or gym mat etc sounds a good idea, same sort of thing I guess - high density foam covered in a tough vinyl type cover.

Those dog beds look decent, although I don't know if they're high density? Might be a bit squishy.
These look fairly decent - Non Slip Vinyl Play Mat | implay

I bought some yoga mats last year but they weren't really thick enough. They were the thickest I could find at 15mm.
Any photos of your Y class mat Max?

Cheers

I had this in my thundercat. Closed cell foam flooring about 1.5' thick, works a treat! Weighs nothing too covered the whole floor and just cut holes for the fuel tank straps

Thanks for the help guys,
all good ideas, that Y-class stuff looks the business, very thick.
There's a sheet of closed cell high density foam on ebay just now, looks a bit like what Lukes got there. Think I'll buy that and cut it to size, much cheaper than new stuff too.

Cheers

We use the uva utility matts from Cannon on the floor of our rib. They lock together like a jigsaw, but I have cable-tied them also. Super light & cheap! look on ebay. Lasted 3 years so far!

Maybe search for 'horse matting' too - the foam type not thin rubber.
