We know where you are now and there are those of us that might have tracked down your new house from the sales particulars some time ago . See this is what becoming a YouTube celeb does

Lets hope your Internet is Blisteringly fast so that you can zip up those videos at record breaking speeds. I live in the sticks and managed to get Fibre to the Premises last year with speeds up to 600mb/s. Lets hope you can too.

You sound like you are planning to live off the land........ You need to set up a still and try and cook up your own wee drams

Once again all the very best for this next phase in your life and well done

Unfortunately for Donny the guys who put in all the OpenReach cabling in rural Scotland were all dreaming of the mountains/sea and their retirements so he’ll have mediocre broadband!

Hi Poly..Im now running at the same broadband speed in the sticks as I did in the City. In fact my brother in Newton Mearns (Glasgow) only gets a third the speeds I get ..so there is no hard and fast rule for BT broadband. In fact out in the sticks often get better results because the new fibre cables. I have fibre to the cabinet then copper to the house running at 36Mbps so delighted.

Im also out boating in my back yard every second day just now. Its bitterly cold but no wind and full sun when I set off early in the morning. Im doing the log run just now, collecting oak and birch windfall to heat the house. Its nice and toasty inside at night with the wood burner going.

Some photos from this morning’s log run .. and boating in my backyard...

Unfortunately..Im like the wee guillemots that stuff themselves full of fish then cant fly. I stuff the Guppy full of logs then cant get on the plane ..but hey..Im in no hurry ..as the scenery is stunning

Ahhh..nice and toasty in the evenings too ....

Yup..the promised land is living up to its name

Talk about being stuffed Donny, think I should consider being more like Fenlander and lighten the load or like you and move closer to water

Worth it though for a few days on Ullswater. Hope we have the blue sky's that you appear to be blessed with.

Well done to Donny and Steve for getting going. Since I went out on what was a lovely warm day (I was in shorts) the weather has turned rather nippy.

The more people that get out and post the more inspiration they are to others.

Best of luck on Ullswater. Looking forward to pics and video

We also have a wood fire (ours is open) we gather firewood on every walk we do. Just a bit at a time but it mounts up. Nowt better getting warm from free wood you have scavenged.

I eventually got round to making the video Smallribber. Im told that the salt in driftwood is not so good for the firebox .. it can cause rust and excess soot. Im no expert so could be wrong. In future will only collect the windfall branches above the shore line. I don’t need much wood just now so collect it to dry out and mature for next winter. I have only been in the new house for two weeks and been out in the boat four times ..so looking forward to a summer of exploration once the house is painted and all DIY done.

As its no longer my first outing..I will stop spamming your thread ..thanks for humouring me.

Donny I've not said much since you moved but all in this household are so pleased you managed the move to your favourite lochs and hills area. Great images in this video... thanks for posting.
