Eventful first day!!

After selling my sea ray 180 bowrider to down size to save some cash I picked this up today!

Fibreglass hull bombard with a low hours 40hp mariner!

After a good inspection and 10miles later down the road the suspension arm snapped and that was that...

The suspension arm looked in half decent condition but the paint must’ve been hiding the rust unfortunately.

Two recovery trucks & 13 hours later It’s Home! With a good scrub it should come up lovely. Looking forward to getting back into a rib! Click image for larger version

Shame about the trailer but the boat looks nice. At least you got it back home... eventually [emoji1]

These things are sent to test you. Mariner 40hp, that will go like _ _ _ _ off a shovel!

Thanks! Alittle less of a handle than the thundercats I used to own but look forward to getting on the water with it! Picked up all new suspension, hubs/bearings and wheels/tyres today. Will get it all welded and fitted next week ready for a trip out

There's a little bit of me that still misses my Sea Ray 180. (Closed bow 4.3 Merc)

Managed to get everything rebuilt today and now looks like a smart rig...still needs that clean though! Engine starts first pull and is super smooth, the thing flys too! Not keen on full power as it’s really unstable but didn’t buy it as a race boat.

Will be perfect for some exploring, fishing and wakeboarding. Few small bits of kit to buy and we’re sorted. Click image for larger version

Wa-hoo, 40 HP on a tiller in basically a rigid floored Aerotec must be a heck of a laugh but demands caution I think!

That tube set looks as if they are straight from an Aerotec... I'd not seen a Bombard RIB exactly like that before.

I’ve not idea what it is. There’s no plate anywhere on it. Apparently it was custom built from new by bombard in early 2000’s

The things even got trim tabs fitted & some decent sized stainless transom supports inside!

Yes by Bombard or others that seems reasonable. As far as I can see they are Aerotec tubes even to the point the rubbing strake, bow bag attachments, lift handles, valves etc are all in exactly the right place for an Aerotec.

On some of the very earliest 1998 Aerotecs thay had those grey cone ends as opposed to the black ones on all later models.

Does it have a wooden transom with no GRP sheath?

Anyway looks great fun... these is something very raw about larger OB on a small RIB with tiller steering... but of course you know more than most about that sort of combo!

Looks like it’s just grp no wood at all. Be good to find what age it is but haven’t seen any others like it about!
