Campsites for SIB near Solent

Hi all, we're looking at going camping, ideally near the solent, with our aerotec 420 over half-term. Any suggestions of campsites where we could launch somewhere within walking distance?

Thanks!

Jim

They're nearly all inland. The only one that I can think of is the campsites at Lepe Beach. Launching from the beach would be a bit rubbish but you've got Calshot a walk away (an hour) or ten mins drive where you could possibly arrange to leave the boat and launch it?

There’s a good campsite just outside Hamble that’s attached to the marina, can’t remember the name off hand. The marina staff were extremely helpful when we were there. They let us use the slip & pontoon free for a couple of days.

Calshot used to allow camping on site, had some great nights there and couldn't be easier to launch.

Hurst castle and throw the boat in and out at Lymington has worked for us in the past, not a walk but a great site in easy drive distance.

You could try looking at this list

https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/articles/view.asp?id=348

The Solent is in the South East area and the areas are listed alphabetically.

Riverside campsite on the river Hamble is the place. It's now owned by Mercury Marina (MDL) which is next door. Slipway and pontoons so it's an ideal holiday spot. And yes its open to tents and caravans - my parents have taken their caravan there on a few occasions.

Thanks. I'd noticed the statics when leaving the marina but handing appreciated there was a camping section.

However, my initial plan on this news may have failed to consider the logistics of towing a camping trailer and a boat trailer simultaneously.

The sheds on the end of the marina look like a bit of fun for a few days.

Hayling island has a campsite with a slipway, I've not taken a boat but did camp there a while back and it was nice enough
