My wheels fit perfectly on the axle. But as I mentioned above, they are far too buoyant to push down and fit them in the water.

Know what you mean, they can take some getting used to - always feels like the wheel could fly up and smash me in the face!

Do your wheels have bearings by any chance? Terry told me last year he had sourced some with bearings… wondered at the time if they might seize up.

Don't think they have bearings, I'll check tomorrow.

Yeh man I’m living the dream here - transom wheel bearings on a Friday night haha. Got to love it though!

You don't want bearings on transom wheels... plain nylon bushes (or wheel bore) direct on the shafts is best.

My thoughts exactly. Open, not very close fitting bearing, prone to collecting sand!

Yellow ones ordered from Screwfix this morning.

Yellow, non bouyant wheels now fitted
Can't say I'm keen on the colour, but needs must.
West Wales and the Gower in a couple of weeks to test them out.

Ahh the yellow... folks at the slip will know you are a serious sibber. You will love their in-water behaviour.

I've since fitted the 350 Excel wheels with the bearings Steve. Slightly crunchy when rolling them in off of the sand! I'm considering the yellow fellas...

The Excelsold ones are good quality though - very similar to the Osculati but a more solid mechanism and thicker pins.

Let's be honest, you'd have to be serious with that colour. Diane hasn't seen them yet, can't wait to hear her reaction!

Going to be a lot of "nearly new" pneumatic wheels for sale on ebay!

Are the yellow wheels good on shingle and sand?

Not tried them yet, but I see no reason why they would be any worse or better. Perhaps Fenlander will enlighten us both

If you do go down the yellow wheel route, the bore and the supplied adapters don't fit the stub axles on the Excel wheels.
I used the following which did the job very well:-

https://www.screwfix.com/p/tower-black-heavy-gauge-conduit-couplings-20mm-2-pack/28255

There is a small internal ridge that has to be drilled out using a 20mm flat bit.
