Avon FRB 380 floor question

My Avon FRB 380 has a slatted floor that uses aluminum slats. They are flat on one side and beveled on the other (see attached photos).

I install them such that the flat side is up. Just wondering why they aren't flat on both sides. My only thought is that this cross-sectional shape might make them a bit stiffer. This is my only boat with a slatted floor, so this may be typical and I just haven't seen it before.

Anyone have any ideas on this?

The extra fold adds strength.
