Anchor question

Just bought my first SIB for fishing. It's 2.95m long and rated to 4.5hp.
It's a cheapie but gets me started and out on the water.
I pick it up on Tuesday and obviously need to start sorting the other bits I'm going to need.
I'm after an anchor and reackon I'll go for the bruce type.
is 2kg with a 2m chain going to be sufficient or do I need to upscale to the 5kg?
our tidal range can be up to 7 metres but frankly to start with I'm only going to be tooling around in the local estuary and with 4.5hp I'm not likely to venturing out into anything particularly squirrelly.
mostly over a muddy/sandy bottom in general although later forays will be over rocky marks.
I take it 8mm nylon rope will be sufficient as it's not exactly a super tanker?

ta muchly

My rig is similar to yours. Bit of info here.

I'd increase the chain to about 4m, it's doing a lot of the work. You'll find Bruces around the 2kg mark are fine. They're nice 'cos they work on most terrain and they don't have nasty pointy bits. 8 milly line is fine - any lighter and it will be a pain to haul regularly.

I'd agree with what Willk says. My 4m heavier boat sits quite happily on a 2.5kg Bruce with 4m of 6mm chain and upto 30m of 8mm rope. So you should be fine.
