Air floor repair

Hi,

I’ve recently obtained second hand waveline 230 as a dinghy to bigger boat purchase.

Looks like it got leak in air floor as seen on the photo.

It loosing air quite quickly. Can be easily feel by hand and floor will deflate in 15mins or so.

Could someone recommend the best way of fixing it ?

PS. It also missing seat/beam. Any ideas where could I get one ?

Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Where there is easy access to put on a proper patch with two-part adhesive I prefer that. However I and others have had good success on small nicks with this...

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stormsure-Glue/dp/B00154Z5RI

You can easily make a seat from 18mm ply.

Thanks.

I’m following the forum for few good years for my previous trailer boat and Evinrude Etec.

As for this leak. It is not big. Scratch is max 0.5cm and only little pin hole seems to went through completely and leak.

I’ll try glue option first. Floor is not so much exposed/ critical but higher pressure is present.
If it won’t hold I’ll do proper patch - any recommended brand ? I assume glue could be removed relatively easily for path to hold.

I could cut but of wood to the dimension but what I’m missing are those mounting ears that will hold into tubes. Can I buy them separately and screw in ?

Thanks!

Something like this may do the job:-

You could try SealFlex. I've had good results with it, though I use it on leaks that take a fair bit longer to deflate.

If that doesn't work out, a simple patch with 2-part glue will fix it, as it looks like the nick is in a nice spot, not too close to a seam.

Thanks for the link. £19 seems bit excessive for chunk of plastic.

As I'm only going to use it to go from anchorage to nearby beach maybe I'll just leave it as it is Will give it a try when beach weather will arrive.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try stormsure glue today.
if it wont hold I'll revert to proper patch and try to do it for the first time.

Hi,

Quick updated.
Applied the glue, waited for 24h, pumped up yesterday evening.

So far after 12h looks like pressure is holding.
Will wait day or two more and move to water test weather allowing.

Thanks!
