Advice please

Hi I would appreciate some advice thinking of buying a second hand quicksilver airdeck 340 over 5 yo but not sure exact age with 9.9 Johnson outboard also over 5 yo. I know the quicksilver has a good reputation but what about the outboard? Does anyone know when QS 340 airdeck production stopped? Thanks

Obviously a picture would give a lot of clues re an outfit but just a few generic thoughts...

The Quicksilver is a decent air floor SIB but being the flat air floor with sausage keel under can suffer sometimes from a flexy floor and prop ventilation. It will be PVC so try and establish an age from the serial number before purchase as passing the ten year point is probably halfway or more through its life.

Re the outboard Johnson haven't the name/price/reputation in the UK of Yamaha/Mercury/etc. But they are still decent motors. Very important you find out the age of this though as a really old one could be almost a scrapper... but around 2000 or newer should be OK.

The last 4 digits of many SIB serial numbers will give a date clue. More important is how old is the outboard?

I have the model no but can't see the serial no on the plate. AA340053N and embarrassed to say the outboard is a mariner 9.9

Is that the outboard or the boat number? Do you have a pic of the outboard to help ID it's age and desirability?

The boat number isn't in a format I'm familiar with.

The outboard is a model I had a year or so ago. Quite simple to maintain and usually dependable. This thread if you're interested...

Hood shape different but few other changes.
