4m ish sib up to £8000

Hey I know I keep asking loads of stuff in different sibs

But what would be a good sea worthy sib that could go in breaking 3-4 foot waves and also be quite enough for fishing?

8k get you a rib witha good engine so if you dont mind towing thats where I would look.

If its a sib the honwave has the biggest tubes and is the most stable so great for fishing but I did find other makes more fun for messing around so it depend on the spit between fishing and other uses. Oh and go for the ali floor model

as for 3-4 foot waves . most sibs and ribs will handle these with relative ease so I would be more thinking about size, engines etc.

I don't agree with the way these are used by lifeguards but the sibs themselves are awesome

Jumping one or two Big Breakers in a SIB is one thing.....Two or three hours going somewhere in a steep chop,or getting home when the weather turns Nasty is another

As above thats a lotta cash for a SIB.
At that money there are lots of RIBs but that would need a towbar and somewhere to store a trailered boat.

But if you want a roll up SIB to put in a large boot with an engine on top I'd suggest an alumiuium floor if you are fishing.

Buy a rib!! I have had both and trying to hold onto a sib at 30mph is great but a rib is better!!

You can buy a decent 4m rib for around 2k or buy a 6m for 8k!
I would advise maybe buying an older boat for the first year just to check it's for you. Once you have one you soon realise the things you want and don't want in design and fittings, so you know exactly what you want for the next one!

+1 Searider is a great choice. 4k will buy you a great SR4 and as Mollers says 8k will get you a great SR4.7. Easy to tow, store, launch, and great fun.

My last one was £1800 and did 5 years or so, almost faultless!!

£1800 will buy you a decent SR4 that you can have loads of fun in, but it will be by no means mint condition. I can think of two ribnet members that have SR4's that are worth between £7k and £8k, maybe more.

You pays your money and takes your choice. There is an SR4 to suit all budgets.

Totally agreed Chris.

But mine was spotless. Even had the yarmouth harbour master say how lovely it looked for its age.
Shame about the seat bolts damaging the hull really, would prob still have it otherwise.

Mind you the £1800 I paid was in the early 1990's. So would prob be £2500 now.

SRs can be from 1000 up to as much as you want :-) .

Engine, toys etc all add to the cost, but I think the best thing is the pure fun factor....any sr4 with any engine from 30 to 50 hp , two or four stroke is just like an old mini Cooper.....just fun :-)

Yeah it would cost a fortune.

Last time I changed engines and trailer on a boat, I bought another outfit. Swapped the bits I wanted and sold the doner outfit for the same price I paid for it!

I'm just poor and used to watching every penny but often more reasonable priced boats are fine. Just need to do a bit of hunting about! :-)
