Many thanks for the offer but both a bit heavy for my in the boot/solo launch requirements.

I have just picked up a 1yr old Mariner 6hp for £650 on ebay which I have serviced/tested and is in very good order. I am also expecting my Honwave T32 to arrive by courier tomorrow. That was bought from a member here and I'm glad I waited for both, rather than buying new.

So i've now assembled the kit, with just the Pump to go.
I know there's a ton of commentary on here about Pumps so i'll read through and make a decision on that shortly.

Excellent. A great combination.
Hopefully you can post some pics of the maiden voyage?

P.S. I can't fault our electric Sevylor pump, it's flawless.

Thanks, I will do once I'm on the water.

I don't suppose you would know which adaptor is required for the Honwave, if I bought a Seylor pump?

Agree with Limecc, I have a Sevylor and it's so far so good, some say it's slow but it's fast enough for me.

You won't need a valve adapter for the Honwave.

Good price from Amazon at the moment.

Hi all

While I (impatiently) wait for some decent weather to get my Honwave inflated in the garden and fix the transom wheels, I wondered whether anybody could advise on OB transport in the car?

I have read tons of information online about laying them flat in the boot, which I have no issue with, I understand which side etc, but as I have 2 x permanently fixed child seats in the back I can't fold seats down, so once the boat is in the boot there isn't space for the OB.

My question is, does anybody transport their OB leant upright in the rear footwell, securely strapped to the front seat for example, or any variations?

Thanks in advance

Hi Pompey77

If you search Lazy boy kayak trolley on ebay (£80), those are the wheels used on that youtube link, buy some 22 mm outer dia 316 stainless tubing (Balloon wheel hole size is 22.2 mm) with a 2 mm wall thickness and find someone with a lathe to bore the inside of the tube to suit your launch wheel stubs which are around 19.2 mm if I recall.

I put my SD360 on the roof a lot.
It's 58kg and I can just about manage it on my own. There is a knack to it but after doing it a few times I can now do it without making myself look like an idiot! Anything around the 40kg mark would be very easy - IMO
I use 2 lengths of scant as cross members. Drilled and attached to the roof rails with 10mm U bolts. I've covered them with carpet to make it easier to slide the SIB on.

Hi Steve
How fast can you go before the boat starts protesting?

I think a roof rack for the Honwave and the OB in the boot may be a safer way to go. I wouldn't want an OB strapped to my seat.

Yes and I didn't want salt water from a recovered boat dripping inside the car. I had an old aluminium ladder, cut up to make a platform on the roof rack.

Hope Pompey's partner and kids don't mind the smell of petrol.
Another reason we were relieved to switch to a trailer.

FYI The product excel sell is called a Buzz Rack P10. Their pricing is competitive but you might find it cheaper elsewhere, depends if/what Terry charges for shipping.

Just dual-purpose use a Thule 3-cycle towball mounted rack.

The idea was to stand it in a plastic bucket, so no spillage in the car, not sure how I would prevent that, or the smell of fuel by having it in the boot? Fortunately this is a solo trip boat, so wont bother the wife and kids regardless.
