U bolts

Is it a good idea to replace rusty u bolts on my trailer with stainless steel ones? including the ones holding the axle on.

No, get hot dipped galvanised, this is assuming that your trailer is galv.

All depends on size, you might find them off the shelf or your trailer might be a bespoke size. You'd need to be a tad more forthcoming with the info. Doris Stokes has left the forum[emoji6]

Yes there seems to be plenty of zinc plated ones but galvanised seem harder to find

They are out there. I'd try the trailer manufacturers first, then a specialist fixings supplier such as

Replaced all,of mine with stainless steel 5 years ago , still in perfect condition. Also replaced keel pins with ss. Rollers still roll perfectly 5 years on.
