Trailer Service Torbay area

It's 2 1/2 years since I've had my trailer (braked Rapide single axle) and I guess it would be sensible to get the thing serviced after innumerable dunkings to launch & recover and c. 2,000 miles of towing.

I really need to check the bearings are not shot & rust is not corroding the suspension arms etc...

As I am no mechanic, and do not have exotic kit such as hub-pullers and bearing-grips, torsion pliers, nipple tensioners, brake calibrators etc .can anyone recommend somewhere in the Torbay area to get a reliable service, ideally in a day, so I don't waste valuable holiday / wave-jumping time dragging an empty trailer round the county?

Cheers

LT

I don't know of anywhere in Torbay sorry, but we use either Plymstock Commecials in Lee Mill or the Tamar Tailer Centre in Plymouth. Plymstock Commercials are open 24 hours a day which is very useful, but if I was you I would launch the boat, drop the trailer off, enjoy your wave jumping, then go and collect the trailer when it is finished.

Another vote for the guys at TTC, Tim, Ian, Catherine and the team are really helpful. They've seen some shocking hubs come in too

Western Towing in Newton Abbot are reasonably priced

Birchell Marine in Paignton have serviced trailers in the past for us, as part of a sale, there's a slip in the harbour right beside them too which would work well if you were planning on having it done whilst your out playing.

Thanks for the advice. I know Western towing in Newton, had considered them, but the road between Newton & Kingswear's a right slow b***** I could leave it there for a day, & go up onto moor or something. leaving the boat at a marina for a day or so.

Also like the idea of running down to Plymouth & getting out on the water whilst the trailer's being done providing I can tie up somewhere long enough to run the trailer into Plymouth & back (and don't get back after they shut!).

Couple of options to think about anyway.

If you launch at Queen Anne's Battery, there is a pontoon you can use while you deliver/collect your trailer and access is 24/7 so no problems there!
