Trailer number plate

Have been thinking that I should stop pushing the legal envelope & should replace the black on white home printer generated trailer number plate with a "proper" black on yellow one.

Halfords will do one for 178 quid, is there a better / cheaper alternative?

Although I've had no problems in the last 6 years, I feel there's a ticket & points in the making from some officious officer without an official plate.

£178?! Typo?

Hundreds of dealers sell plates on eBay, some British Standard legal, lots not. From about £10 pair delivered.

Think I got mine last year from 3autotrader on fleaybay.

Assuming that is right (too long ago in my eBay history to tell) he was reliable, the plate looks legal to me and cost £7.49 all in.

Halfords number plates were £15.99 last time I got one. There probably are cheaper options, but they are convenient and make it while you wait. Remember to bring proof of identity and proof of entitlement with you.

My local towbar place does BSAU 145d compliant (100% legal) plates for £10, you just need the V5

Order one from one of the suppliers on ebay. No need to produce any documentation & they are of legal size & markings.
Got one on the back of my car & incl p&p cost me less than my local motor factor wanted to charge me at TRADE PRICE.
Described as 'show plates' to get round the legislation requirement to produce docs.

ETA single plates currently on ebay for under £8 incl p&p.
