Replacement Brake Shoes

Is there any way of telling what brake shoes are fitted to my RHIB trailer. They need replacing and have been removed but I don't want to pay the daft prices quoted by Indespension and was wondering if generic brake shoes from an autospares shop would do. We have two trailers and one has an Alko axle and the other has a Knott axle.

Where are you based?

I always recommend dolphin trailers in poole for work or parts. He'll sort you out with sort shoes for definite and he's cheap!

Sunny Manchester. Was just wondering if these brake shoes could be replaced with comparable units for cars and which units they would be or how to find out?

Depends what shoes you have.
On an old non auto-reverse trailer I had the brake shoes from trailer specialists were eye-wateringly expensive - but the shoes had a familiar look about them. Turned out to be Moggy 1000 shoes & a fraction of the price!

Yes I've now bought the units from Indespension but I will post pics. It would be handy in future to know if I can source these elsewhere as I believe they must be interchangeable with car units.
