Something to do with C&U regulations 're lighting. I recollect there being a better source than the attached but on mobile in sunny Greece ,,, it does seem to have the key info though.

It's not height so much, although there are guidelines, but the lighting should be attached to the trailer its-self and not the load, which in this case, is the boat. Few coppers are aware of this in the UK though and fewer will stop you. I don't know where you stand in the event of a crash though.

Posterior. Phone appears to have not posted my last attempt at a reply.

In summary: a frame thing is coz most of the lights end up way too high off the ground.

LEDs are good but confuse some cars. 13 pin plugs are way more reliable than the non sealed 7 pin efforts.
