For sale in this listing is PLAN B, 1983 Avon Searider SR 5.4 RIB, US Navy type. Fully restored with all new console, seating and equipment. For anyone familiar with the Seariders, you will know these are very special boats! For anyone not familiar I would suggest looking them up. They are a bit of a cult classic. This boat is noted as having “the world's most sophisticated hull design” (by the Irish military) for the RIB boat segment. In fact, this same design is still in production today by Zodiac sold as the MilPro SR5.4. One of the most noteworthy innovations of the design was the flooding or “water ballast” hull, which lowers the boat at rest for stability without compromising the performance of the deep V hull. I was told that the original tubes were printed with US Navy in large letters and the number 521 is still retained on one of the original paddles included with the boat.
I bought this boat in 2014. At that time the former owner had just refinished the hull and installed a new set of Hypalon tubes ordered from Henshaw in the UK. (Check out their website to learn more about Henshaw and search the web for reviews of their super high-quality products and services)

Plan B is fitted with a 2008 Yamaha F90 (FTL) with less than 300hr on it always flushed and meticulously maintained. Along with the motor, the tubes and the hull are the only components that are not brand new.
The recently completed restoration included fully striping down the cockpit and deck to reconfigure the seating, fuel storage, rigging, power, and boat balance. With the help of the experts at Santa Cruz Marine Service and a carefully thought out plan we removed everything from the inside of the boat and started from scratch (I have lots of pictures of all the work done) Starting upfront, there is a new custom 18.5gal stainless steel fuel tank under an extra thick custom fiberglass bulkhead/deck with drainage and 2 magnet covered storage compartments. Just in front of the tank is an anchor locker (open air). Moving aft we installed all new console and jockey seating for 4. The captain's seat is the “dry box” the console and the other 2 seats have drains. Beyond the seating, the radar arch mounted on transom support struts (a navy option included in the original boat).
The transom its self was ground down and re-fiber glassed and made thicker with a taller motor mount section.

The boat sits on very good condition 1993 EZ Loader trailer with new bunks set to perfectly fit the hull. It has descent 12" tires, a new spare, good bearings with bearing buddies. It has a new tongue jack and ball lock.
