Your quote opening statement contained this

The company also pointed out the high cost of repair that can be associated with engine problems. In its highest claim, which was for a Range Rover Vogue, an engine failure cost £12,998.46.

Well funny it is not. Just had a £9k quote on a new engine for a 50 k mile LR3.

Wrong from the same dealer that sold the car new.

If it's value - the usual method of assessing content - well, you're too clever for me. So, help me here ... tell me where these bits come from as by value they make up far more than the 30% that in your opinion doesn't come from China:

1. Engine
2. Gearbox
3. Bodyshell

Choose whichever model you like ...

Just curious, like

Our 18mth old X5 required a new £4k gearbox, but I'd never slam BMWs.

You'll find horror stories for any marque if you spend your life trawling through Google.

Give it up Mister, you're boring our arses rigid pal.

Like everything in life we all have our favourites!! I must confess I join in this thread to have some lighthearted banter with others. I just happen to like what I drive at the moment it does what I want and that's not to say others would do the same.

Agreed it's a bit of banter to keep us going over the winter months also the slagging off has not always been L.R. related has it now

Had my Terrano for 7 years now and the only cost which is every couple of years is replacing the anti roll bars which are as cheap as chips.

Still think L.R.'s are crap though
