I need the best car at the best price, for me vauxhall/opel looks most interesting if you compare price and what you got...

Offcause a diesel, I donīt need a big engine. I would like to have AC, ABS, CD/Radio and a good fuel economy...

Small Van

The smallest van that I recommend is the Renault Traffic, also rebadged by Nissan and Opal. Go for the short wheel base 100/110 BHP van, without rear windows but with Park Sensors (The windows get dirty and stay that way).

We used to use the Berlingo which was fine but the Traffic takes three in the front and is fast, higher up, easier to load and drives like a car. It will also provide a useful wind block if towing a Rib.

Hope that Helps. I am awaiting on three new ones. They now come with 3 year waranty which is useful.

I have a Peugeot Expert Van which isn't on your list, but is slightly bigger than the Berlingo, seats 3 in the front if you want that, and has a very good HDi turbo diesel engine. It tows the boat extremely well (far better than the fiat van I used to have). I didn't get A/C installed, but I did have ABS installed which has benefitted me quite a few times now

There is a new model out very shortly I believe which is slightly bigger for the same money - this could mean that you may get better deals on the existing range. Although it probably doesn't affect you, in the UK, we'd argue that the Expert is "car derived" from the Peugeot 806 before it was revamped a few years ago, which supposedly gets it out of a few speed issues.

If you're tall and want a divider/cage between the cab and load space then try them all out with the divider in place.
The Vauxhall has very limited legroom with a divider in-at least the 2003 one I used regularly last year had. It was a nightmare to drive because of it.

Abs

Hi Guys,

I find it hard to believe that Vans are being imported into this country without ABS and indeed second airbags in some instances.
Either ABS works or not and Ireland charge a tax on these and vat on that whilst at the same time pretening tocare about the amount of people being killed on our roads. I suggest hat no one buys a Van without ABS or second Airbag (as in on passenger side),

If your worried bout air bags dont get a defender, no airbags and the XS is the only one with ABS as standard.
