I owned a Range Rover for three years......if all that had gone wrong with that was loose wheel nuts I'd have been a happy man
The parts were dirt cheap for the Range Rover but that's cause you had to bulk buy

Don't know anything about the new ones but I see that the diesel one only has a 1.6l engine so I would imagine it would struggle with pulling anything substantial

All cars are going that way now which isnt great for towing. However 1500kg limit and atleast a 1200kg boat would make me a little nervous. i was using a 2200kg limit xtrail and towing 2000kg, it wasnt if the clutch and dmf went, it was when!

The age you are looking at i would assume you will be in the 80k range of miles? I would not expect a1.6 clutch to last long towing with those miles, maybe look at prices for a dmf and clutch before you go ahead as that will likely be your biggest potential expense. For reference my xtrail was 650 quid for parts only.

Btw, take your boat to a weight bridge before you buy anything, you may get a surprise and better to find out now.

My boat was nearly 300kg more than i was told and i have NOTHING onboard other than an anchor. It has cost a fortune to put right (new trailer, car and storage fees up)....
