Zodiac red burn removal...need help!

Going to try removing the red before even thinking of paint....

Just picked up this Zodiac and wonder what the safest way to clean the red marks off the top. It's an 01 and had some preventative repairs done recently. The areas where they prepped are free of the red marks so I know it will come off. Any advice on what materials I can use?

Thanks,

D

Try wiping with acetone? Try a small spot first and allow the solvent to flash off between passes.

It's PVC, so most plastic cleaners will be safe to use. West Marine has an "Inflatable Boat Cleaner", but I have no idea how effective it will be on you stains.

I think acetone is too powerful; it will eat away the material. MEK might work but its very powerful too.

A wipe or two with acetone won't hurt a thing. Just make sure you don't scrub.

cleaner

I have found that "spray 9" is the best cleaner for my zodiac...it sometimes takes a few doses--but it removes the discoloration eventually...with minimal work. use a sponge with a light scouring side...let it sit for 60 sec for it to work.

I then let it dry and treat with aerospace protectant ...like high end armorall. seems to be working this season...

you can buy spray 9 at walmart by the quart...it is amazing stuff. no need to spend the premium for the marine version. I'm sure it is the same stuff.
