vessel assist business start up info

Hi there,

I am interested in starting up a vessel assist business in CA

I know I need my captains license with tow endorsement.

My question is what permits / other licensing do I need?

Is their a regulation book for vessel assist operators that they have to follow like they have for truckers?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
Andrew

I believe they are franchises.
I regularly see ads in The Log for help wanted in Dana Point.
You definitely need a Captain's License with towing endorsement.
Contact Vessel Assist.

Let me know if you need a Skipper! Wales is rather wet and windy so getting home sounds very appealing

If you decide to get into the business, I have tow boat for sale: 22ft Boston Whaler Guardian ex-police (freshwater use only). Twin Merc 115s with low hours, dealer maintained. It will get you started on a budget, all you need is 6-pack OUPV license and Assistance Towing endorsement. For guidelines, see C-PORT Organization, National Association for the Marine Assistance Industry - Salvage, Towing

Isn't Vessel Assist a part of BoatUS? They can probably help out (even if they're not affiliated.)
